Each year in the spring, the chamber of commerce invites students who have participated in the Manners program to a chamber luncheon. This year’s luncheon will be held on February 18, Noon at the Meade County extension office. The purpose of this joint luncheon is to provide students the experience of putting into practice social and dining skills they learned through the program and to interact with business leaders-you!
It has become a tradition for chamber members to sponsor the students lunch with all excess funds going to the Backpack for Hunger program. This program supports students in Meade County who lack sufficient food once they leave school on the weekend and extended breaks. This year over 150 students are participating in the Backpack for Hunger program at a cost of $100 per student for the school year. Food is purchased from Feeding America and distributed to the schools to be sent home with the at risk children. IF every chamber member/business would contribute $50 toward the program we could feed over 70 children.
If you are willing to serve as a $50 or more sponsors, please contact Deb at the Chamber office, all it will take is a phone call or email. The Chamber can do a credit card over the phone for your donation or send out an invoice. All contributors who respond by February 15 will have their name listed in the luncheon program. Also in the spirit of proper etiquette, please RSVP to Deb no later than February 15 if you plan to attend the luncheon. Each year the extension homemaker’s organization prepares a delicious meal so you don’t want to miss this opportunity for great food and fellowship.
