The announcement of the reduction of 40,000 Soldiers was a sobering reminder of the challenges the Army faces as it aims to continue to ensure the readiness of the force. Of all Army installations, only 3 will realize a net increase of personnel as a result of the changes announced today. Fort Knox is one of those 3.
According to Major General Combs, “Army leaders took a careful and deliberate look at a wide range of information when making determinations on where the reductions and changes would have to be made; and as part of that, I can say the Community Listening Session we held in January provided decision makers with quality, useful data and considerations. These facts make it all the more significant that Fort Knox will realize an increase in personnel as a result of today’s announcements. “
We encourage every business to post “Fort Knox – Army Strong” signage to show support for Fort Knox, Soldiers & their families, and civilian employees. http://bit.ly/1ToKIj5
For those who attended the January listening session it was a great experience to hear from our area residents and business people about our region and all that it offers.
