Nuisance and Abandoned Property Workshop
August 2, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Tuesday August 2 at 6pm at the Meade County Fiscal Court
Join us as we work towards the planning and writing of the Nuisance and Abandoned property ordinance for Meade County. It is very important that we look ahead while planning in our community.
I understand the Fiscal Court is holding a workshop for further community input for “Establishing Registration Procedures for Abandoned Property” and “Abatement of Nuisances”. As the Director of the Meade County Chamber of Commerce, I want to express my support of these ordinances for our community.
I believe we need to make sure these types of rules exist in our county. Part of the chamber mission is to promote the county as a great place to live, work and create jobs. We need the help of our elected officials to ensure the tools are in place to clean up blighted and abandoned property and to prevent future problems.
As community leaders work towards improved economic development, adding and improving infrastructure and jobs for the city and county’s growing population, we need regulations that support those initiatives.
Meade County is a very well kept County and its beauty and safety should be protected. I have been at court when complaints were brought to the attention of the fiscal court. Having no such ordinance, there was no way to help the ones with legitimate complaints; I believe this ordinance will support both the court and the residents.
The ordinance is necessary for the court to protect all our residents. It is very important to the ones that do respect the safety and aesthetics of our surrounding area.
